mrgan: Here’s the video of the very first The Incident 1.3 build running on my TV. Matt has polished this up quite a lot since then, but I think it still looks badass. If you don’t have Flash, here’s a YouTube video.

Smarties, religion and vegetarians →
Violet Smarties are currently dyed with cochineal, a derivative of the Cochineal insect which is listed in the ingredients as carminic acid. It is produced by crushing female Cochineal insects. Its presence means that Smarties are neither kosher, halal nor vegetarian.

I would like to introduce a new rule of thumb for app design. It’s a very simple but powerful one: when you can’t handle to usability anymore in a Moleskine or any other sketchbook where you can’t tear paper out, then it’s too complicated.

White or Black iPhone
This insanely quick written text piece comes after I read this Twitter status: https://twitter.com/tennisman120/status/17289763495 I’ll trow in my 2 pennies for you (and the guy). The first question you should ask yourself is the colour you prefer. If you can’t answer that, then you should just move on to the next paragraph. If not: get the colour you want. The second thing is...

I know it’s been online for a few days now, I even tweeted about it. I have no idea why I don’t post it on Tumblr though. The new Unibody look and a real HDMI port makes this product climb to the second position on my “Wish List of Wanna Have” PS: the iPhone 4 is on #1.

Undisclosed: Where's the N@Tschool icon? I used to have it on this screen in Firefox.
Me: What's the URL? This is my computer
Undisclosed: Yes but I have the same screen.
Me: Just give me the URL and I'll load it in.
Undisclosed: I don't know, I just click the button you gave me months ago. Where is it anyway?

Adobe's Miscarriage
Giant technology companies are a nail into the coffin on innovation. Not always, there are 2 companies that had an extremely flat hierarchy. One is failing and the other failed. Microsoft’s Windows (aka their face) is practically doomed unless they fix the major flaws in their OS and we all know where Netscape ended up… But this article isn’t about these 2. It’s about...

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life
Ya know that frustration I had yesterday was not needed after all. I came up with a much better solution, one that’s easier to use and trows the regular old navigation of a shop in the trashcan. Once this is finished I might actually find time to finish my portfolio site and Tumblr theme. Just remember to sing along and everything will be fine.

Frustration
I spent days designing a unique concept for a store. I have the chance to use a unique color palette, that of camouflage. Great, huh? Turns out: not so much. The navigation looks like crap. Literally, it looks like crap. That’s not what I had in mind. I’ve tried several other approaches and every single one of them is more worse than the other. I think I need a Red Bull to solve...

Envisioning the web
Design for the web is just getting started. And it will change drastically in the coming decade. I won’t be talking about Flash or HTML in my first tumblog and how it will affect our designs, no, it’s about something much bigger. It’s about devices. Imagen yourself in the future, somewhere around the Minority Report timeline. They used gloves and gestures to control a huge...
